Kerry uses PanPastel for his drawings. Using PanPastel on its own, or in combination with other drawing materials such as Conté or hard pastel.
“I was searching for a drawing medium that felt like was 'my medium', something that worked for me and not just what I was trained to work with. I tried many different drawing mediums... conte, charcoal, hard pastels...etc. I purchased a few PanPastel Colors in order to try it out as a monochromatic drawing medium, and I loved the result. It was both permanent (didn't need any fixative spray) and it had a beautiful soft look. It could be structural and precise yet also soft and delicate. I love the combination. I have since expanded to using a fuller range of color and sometimes I combine it with Conté or hard pastel when I want a really crisp line. But for the most part I use PanPastel by itself. It's a wonderful product and I think has lots of potential.” - Kerry Dunn
About Kerry Dunn
Kerry Dunn is part of a movement of 'new masters' that has sought to reclaim the methodologies of the old masters, almost completely lost during the 20th century. This movement is in large part due to the atelier system, small studio schools each lead by a master painter, that have been on the rise since the mid 90's around the world.
Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, is one of these such schools; where Kerry studied between 2003 - 2008 with renowned portrait painter Nelson Shanks. Kerry now teaches at the school as part of the senior faculty.
Kerry feels most drawn to the art of portrait painting; where characters are cast upon a stage and narrative is inevitable; and, the ever elusive challenge of creating a master work
Kerry Dunn currently lives and works between Philadelphia and Jacksonville, Florida.

Artist Q&A: Beverly Brown
Our latest Q&A is with New York City based artist Beverly Brown. We wanted to share her beautiful PanPastel paintings and to find out more about her creative process and why she uses PanPastel. Beverly used PanPastel Colors for all of the work shown below.
Artist Q&A: Benjamin Ward
My grandfather was a painter, illustrator, and professor. I grew up sitting on his lap watching him draw. It fascinated me. I had an amazing (and patient, ha) art teacher in high school that nurtured my abilities and helped me create a portfolio that was awarded several scholarships to major art schools.
