Julian Farrar
Julian Farrar uses PanPastel as the main material that he uses for his large scale drawings.
“I love the fast and expressive marks I can get from PanPastel and a sponge. It is the perfect way to inject energy and movement into a drawing in the early stages.
As the drawings develop, the marks slow down and I try to achieve surface textures and lighting effects that contribute to the overall narrative of the scene.
Color plays an important role here. In the past I have not used color often in my drawings. But in this series it is vital. I do not use many different colors in each scene. I can achieve all the tones and nuances required using a variety of layers and pressure when applying the PanPastel.” - Julian Farrar

Artist Q&A: Benjamin Ward
My grandfather was a painter, illustrator, and professor. I grew up sitting on his lap watching him draw. It fascinated me. I had an amazing (and patient, ha) art teacher in high school that nurtured my abilities and helped me create a portfolio that was awarded several scholarships to major art schools.
