Josh Hernandez
Josh uses PanPastel for his drawings. Using PanPastel on its own, or in combination with other drawing materials.

“PanPastel has been a game changer in my work. Discovering it in my college days I fell in love with the material and not only used it as the foundational tone for my charcoal drawings but also used it for completing entire pieces.
The Sofft pallet knife covers much of the page smoothly and swiftly allowing for a paint-like technique without relying too much on post blending. The soft and rich tones of the pastel are accessible with ease. It is a truly revolutionary material.“ - Josh Hernandez
About Josh Hernandez
“Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA — I have known nothing but to create, I was that kid that could not pay attention in class while drawing in text books or thinking of the next coolest thing I can make. Thankfully, I have been blessed to continue doing that for a living. After deciding to pursue graphic design instead of fine art, I attained my BSD from Arizona State University. I have a background in the design industry ranging from logo design to illustration. In the midst of my design career, my desire to create art arose from the ashes and once again I began to draw & paint. I branded myself as “Mad Charcoal” to reflect the style of my work. I create pieces ranging from charcoal to paint and mixed media, mostly focused on portraiture and figurative work with an emphasis is achromatic values and expressive nature. Currently residing in Phoenix, AZ (USA).”

Artist Q&A: Benjamin Ward
My grandfather was a painter, illustrator, and professor. I grew up sitting on his lap watching him draw. It fascinated me. I had an amazing (and patient, ha) art teacher in high school that nurtured my abilities and helped me create a portfolio that was awarded several scholarships to major art schools.
